Stop wasting time surfing the same websites every time

I am actually supposed to write on my master thesis at the moment, but unfortunetly there are so many way more interesting things out there.

For example surfing the internet and if I really look on which website I do go every day there are only 4-5 sites (e.g. facebook, heute.de, faz.net).

So I just asked myself why I am checking the news and my facebook stream five times a day? Even if it would be enough to check all that stuff once or twice a day. Probably the reason is that I am afraid to miss something or I am just bored and looking for an excuse not working on my thesis. Therefore I looked after a tool that could help me stop wasting my time and I found Stay Focused.

It’s a google chrome extension that limits your time for all the websites who are supposed to be block after some time. From now on I only have 10 Minutes to check the newssites and facebook in total every day. Ten minutes doesn’t sound much, but honestly It is enough at all. Most of my time I am not productive on facebook at all and it’s not just about that I am banned from these sites, it’s more about that I am going to avoid all these boring moments where I could check the news or facebook.

It really helps me to stay focused, check it out and tell me your opinion.

Windsurfing on Fehmarn

Last week I had my first holiday for a quite long time.

I went Windsurfing on Fehmarn. It was my first time doing watersports like that at all. But I finished the course successfully.

This sport is so much fun, at the first time it feels a little bit scary and you are not really able to stear the whole board and after some time you are getting it, even if your hands are hurting.

But the best things was still the accomodation and the people who were around. We were a totally mixed group of people from Hamburg and Berlin in of every age. But we were hanging out together the whole time, had some bbq, cooked food together, played cards, went out for a run or a midnight bath in the sea 🙂

It was quite impressive for me that such a lot of people were who didn’t know each other for a long time were fitting together and didn’t force any troubles at all.

Definetly want to do such an event again and of course with Hochschulsport Hamburg, because it is quite cheap as well.

I’ll keep you in the loop

Berlin Marathon 2012 on the go

Today is a pretty good day. I am doing this running stuff for a quite long time now and always wanted to do a Marathon, but was always afraid or just had too many excuses why I shouldn’t do that.

Unfortunetly all tickets for the Berlin Marathon were sold out 9 months ago. So I tried to get a ticket through a lottery, but even there I hadn’t enough look, so that I almost gave up. But I kept on going and finally I got a ticket and even a training plan, a quite tough one as well 🙂

So what I will blog about in the next months will be probably running, running, running and maybe a bit of nutrition.

Please cross your fingers and cheer me however you like to, because the long distance run of 3 hours isn’t that easy at all, so I do need all support I can get.

I am trying to publish my training plan here as well, so that you are getting a feeling what I do force myself to do! Bring it on!

Doing a half marathon

What did I do the last weekend?

Some people are getting drunk at such a weekend, but I couldn’t. The reason for that is pretty simple. I was doing a half marathon in the most beautiful city Hamburg.

And how was it?

It was great!!!

Once again I did it together we a very good friend of mine. Markus and I were used to do our training sessions together for quite a long time, but it was quite big effort to convince him to join me to this run. But in the end he did and I am pretty sure he is quite happy with that. Surprisingly Markus and I finished at the same time (1:43:20)…alright it took Markus one second more, but anyhow what we really get is not about the medal, it’s more a whole sunday experience. At km 15 I was speeding up a little bit and left markus behind me, but very surprisingly the didn’t give up and could catch up with me again at km 19. The only reason he was able to do that, was he really wanted to!!!

What you really get during such a run or I especially get is:

  • The awesome feeling to do a run with 6000 other guys, who are more than willing to finish and giving their best!
  • The chance to break my own limits and getting pushed by the other runners and the audience
  • The feeling to be able to achieve everything you want in life

Running is not just about running, it’s about Life! You can learn a lot from running to use for your own life. (My personal recommendation to this topic is the book Extrem: Die Macht des Willens of Norman Bücher)

That’s it with my first blog post. Hope your are enjoying it and being part of my life and attitudes.

A few people eventually don’t like what I am writting about or don’t like me at all…but that doesn’t matter. I am on the right way to do what I really want to and so I and even you shouldn’t care! Anyhow all kinds of comments and recommendations are welcome, but just stay constructive.

Cheers

Chris
